Georgian Era Toddler Gown

The inspiration from this gown came from a 1780's painting by George Romney.

I found this dotted voile in my "stash" and knew it would be the perfect holiday dress for my little princess.
Here is my modern version of the above dress, followed by the holiday pictures.
The look of this versatile dress can easily be altered by a change in sash or ribbon -
in this case from holiday portraits to "Georgian-meets-Western" (complete with pink boots!) to the classic black & white.

After she outgrew the original length of the gown, I let out the growth tuck and
covered the old stitching lines with a crocheted lace, this time pairing the gown
with a knitted pinafore and pink "ballet" style shoes.
The possibilities of this gown are endless!
